Instructor

Head Instructor: Sensei Roper Macaraeg – Nidan (2nd degree black belt)

I began studying Shotokan Karate in middle school under Sensei Jovito “Jovy” Angat of Total Control Martial Arts (TCMA) at Tara Hills Community Center, Pinole. At TCMA, we were taught loyalty, discipline, and respect. We practiced our forms, sparring, and self-defense. I loved learning karate, and made it my goal to get better each day I practiced.

In addition to Shotokan, I practiced Aikikai Aikido and 8-Step Preying Mantis. By studying other styles, I gained a better appreciation and understanding for the style I started with.

In 2005, I taught my own classes in Shotokan, 8-Step Preying Mantis, and multiple self-defense seminars to kids, teens, and adults. I’m fortunate to be at a point where I can open up a dojo to share the martial arts with my family and everyone willing to learn. Please join me as we study martial arts together.
